Building an Ecosystem for
COINs

Our research leverages Social Network Analysis and Artificial Intelligence to grow and nurture collectively creative teams and organizations and optimize human wellbeing. It is based on the concept of Collaborative Innovation Networks or COINs.

COINs are intrinsically motivated teams communicating over the Internet to change the world. Our approach identifies ideal team members using AI to compute their personality and morals and form virtual tribes and teams unified by shared values. It then mirrors back team members’ communication patterns, telling them how to improve communication for optimal innovation and creativity. Even more, we leverage AI to include communication with other species such as animals, and plants.

Our work is based on over twenty years of research of team members at the MIT Center of Collective Intelligence, University of Cologne, and many other participating institutions.
Research
In our research we study communication, collaboration, and innovation among humans, and with other species. We leverage latest advances in AI and SNA to create a "Social Compass" for navigating social networks, and a "translator" for better communication within teams and organizations, and for communication with animals and plants.
Publications
Check out our most recent books "Happimetrics - Leveraging AI to Untangle the Surprising Link Between Ethics, Happiness and Business Success" and "KI in der Psychologie - ist der Mensch eine Maschine? (essentials) (German Edition)". We also publish a series of proceedings volumes of the annual COINs conference. Our most recent COINs volume will appear as “Handbook of Social Computing” at Edward Elgar in 2023.
